The District is funded through fees that are authorized in its enabling legislation. The fees are as follows:
- Water Well Registration Fee:
- $500 for new wells
- Waived for wells drilled before April 1, 2011 that are not used for public water supply and incapable of producing more than 25 gallons per minute
- Permit Application Fee:
- $1,000 for new wells, substantial alterations of existing wells, or wells requesting less than 50,000,000 gallons annually
- $2,000 for wells requesting 50,000,000 or more gallons annually
- Permit Renewal Fee:
- $500 application fee + $150 per well if there are no permit changes requested, and only GM approval is required
- $1,000 application fee + $150 per well if permit amendments are requested, requiring Board approval
- Exception Application Fee:
- $250 for exceptions that do not require a notice and hearing
- $750 for exceptions that require a notice and hearing
- Groundwater Use Fee:
- Non-exempt Wells for Non-agricultural Use: $0.25 per 1,000 gallons of water pumped
- Agricultural Use: $1 per acre-foot of water pumped
- Groundwater Transport Fee: 50% export surcharge on groundwater transported outside of the District
